LIANE CARROLL VOTED MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR @ PARLIAMENTARY JAZZ AWARDS 2008

We are very please to announce that our patron, Liane Carroll, was voted Musician of the year at the parliamentary jazz awards last week.  We are proud and delighted for Liane and wish continued, well deserved, success.

Look out for live recording dates for Liane Carroll and Brian Kellock, in Scotland, November 2008. Thanks to the Scottish Arts Council, Thick-Skinned Productions Ltd will now be able to make this happen. We’ll keep you posted about dates and how to buy tickets and be part of the recording.

FIONNA DUNCAN NOMINATED FOR JAZZ EDUCATION AWARD

For the first time Fionna Duncan was nominated for a parliamentary jazz award for her services to jazz Education. She was up against stiff competition and was pipped at the post by the lovely Dennis Rollins. Fionna was very happy just to be nominated and it is a testament to her work that this London Based award recognised her contribution in Scotland by nominating her.

We hope that Fionna will release a new CD at the end of this year using her New Studio and continue her great work well into the future. We all know how wonderful she is!

DONATIONS IN SUPPORT OF FDVJW

Would you like to sponsor a student? If so, please send a cheque for £300 made payable to FDVJW (mark the back “sponsor a student”) and post to FDVJW, Freepost SCO6390, East Linton, EH40 0BR.

If you’d like to make a smaller donation just do the same as above and mark the back “donation”. All amounts are gratefully received.

We need your donations to support our younger singers. There is a serious lack of young, up and coming, singers studying jazz in Scotland and throughout the rest of the UK. Organisations like FDVJW are crucial to the development of this musical genre.
